トンボの古語は「蜻蛉」（アキヅ）といいます。
「秋津」（アキツ）などとも言うようですが、『日本書紀』にも出てくるので、ここでは「蜻蛉」とします。
トンボの方言分布を見ると、
以前（９／２５）、『「顔」の事、「カオ」「ツラ」「チラ」・・・なんと呼ぶ？』というタイトルで、書込みをした内容と考え方は同じです。
そこで「アケズ」の変異形を地域別にまとめ、各地域の再構形をさらに広範囲の地域へと統括しながら、最終的な推定原形を導き出す、というのが『縄文語の発見』の著者、小泉 保氏の考えです。
『縄文語の発見』では、（１）東北系、（２）関東系、（３）九州系、（４）奄美大島系、（５）琉球系、と分類し、それぞれの方言から＊印をつけた想定形を導き出し、
