ケイタイを、スマートフォンに替えようか、悩んでいます。
最近のケイタイは、とても多機能で良いのですが、ＰＤＡ的な使い方をしたいと思ったら、当然スマートフォンが有利です。
しかし、気になるのは、パケット代です。
もちろん、その為に「パケ・ホーダイ ダブル」（docomo)のような、上限金額の決まった割引プランがあるではないか、言われれば、確かにその通りなのですが、その”上限金額を払いたくない”んです。

そこで、多くの人と同じように考えるのが、Wi-Fiです。
幸い、ASAHI-netでは、月額380円で使えるサービスがあるので、安上がりかとも思うのですが、さてどんなものか。
当然、アクセスポイント付近でなければ繋がらないので、使える場所は限られてきます。
仮に、主な通信回線をWi-Fiで行い、FOMA回線による通信を最小限にできたとします。
さて、最小限ってどれくらいでしょう？
【インターネットの通信量・試算】
いまいちピンと来ないので、試しにパソコンで通信量を測ってみます。
正確に測れているのかどうかは、定かではないので、大体の目安としてみて下さい。
・通信内容
[画面①]My docomo(マイドコモ)ホーム
（操作）－ログイン・クリック
[画面②]ＩＤ，パスワード入力画面
（操作）－ＩＤ，パスワード入力
[画面③]ログイン後、ホーム画面

また、１Ｍ（メガ）バイトは、１０２４Ｋ（キロ）バイト。
１Ｋ（キロ）バイトは、１０２４バイトです。

＝約１，６３８，９２４バイト
１６３８９２４ ÷ １２８バイト
＝約１２，８０４パケット
さて、結構な数字が出てきましたよ。
これを、金額に計算しても良いのですが、それよりも、上限金額に達するパケット数と比較した方が、わかり易い気がします。
・何回で上限到達？
docomoのホームページ内の、「パケ・ホーダイ ダブルとは（スマートフォン）」を見ると、７１，２５０パケットで、上限の５，９８５円／月に到達します。
単純に、上記の数字で割ってみます。
７１，２５０ ÷ １２，８０４ ≒ ５．５６
恐ろしいですねぇ。
先ほどの４つの画面を、ひと月に６回表示するだけで、上限に達成します。
「最小限＝上限金額」という式が成り立つような気がします。
【まとめ】
自分自身を納得させる為に、ちょっと細かく計算してみましたが、大方の予想通りの結果になりました。
「上限金額を払いたくなければ、インターネットを１ページも見てはいけない（Wi-Fiを除く）」
といった気概で挑まないことには、上限金額は必須でしょう。現実的ではありませんねぇ。
いやはや、なんとも「通信費」のかかるご時世なのでしょうか。
